FOR MY FRIEND JOSH.

I painted this after losing a dear friend this October, I think he would've liked it.
RIP JAC, I love you forever.

WORK IN PROGRESS.. continued

First completed painting in my series Nouvelle Nature, some minor changes may occur in the next two weeks but I am content with it's progress. I have included a detail below, (please forgive the glare of the flash) the texture can be seen, however the iridescent nature of the paint and the reflective quality of some of the mediums is still left to the imagination, unfortunately.

Second painting of the series, progress is slow going here. I'm working backwards trying to create spatial tension, I completely screwed this by running the paint of the linear motif first, without considering the space behind. I have confidence I'll solve this, I've got a few tricks up my sleeve.

Third painting of the series, I've been toying with this being vertical or horizontal. Currently it is horizontal, but as you can see this is in the very first steps of its development.

WORK IN PROGRESS.

THE FOLLOWING IMAGES ARE THE WORK OF CLAIRE E. GAYLORD.

These two paintings fit into the theme of paintings I have been obsessing with over the past few months. Showing my natural progression from THE NATURE SERIES, which is a more exact replication of cellular studies, to this more linear focused abstraction, the forms still inspired by the microscope images of plants. Apologies for the blurred image but note the black grid, this is the first time in a very long time I have used black in one of my paintings. I especially like the matte quality of the paint and can feel myself moving into a black paint phase. Also really considering a white on white experiment using similar motifs. Finished works to be posted in the near future. I'm thinking of naming this series NOUVELLE NATURE.
